The Carrier uses 4 Johnny Joints for mounting/pivot points and can easily hold the 40. We have these on our shop Jeep here in Colorado and it is massive. We have had good success with these, however, the carrier will deflect some while it's open and you will have to pick up on it to get it back into the mounts when closing.ĮVO is the strongest of these options but also requires you to run their corner armor to mount it. GenRight is a swing out style carrier that will have to be opened before the tailgate. It's great and still allows easy access to the back of the Jeep since it's door-linked. AEV only rates theirs up to a 37" tire but we have been running a 40 on ours since 2013 with several JK-X trips and no failures. ![]() Click to expand. The most popular carriers we have for 40's would be AEV, GenRight, and EVO MFG.
